Leave your STAHLX backup openly in a drawer or on a shelf. Someone finds it, types the words into a wallet — and lands in an empty wallet. No safe needed, no hiding games.
Safe while travelling
Take your backup on trips without fearing loss or inspection. Even if it is inspected or copied: without your certificate file the backup cannot be decrypted. The words on the steel alone lead nowhere.
Stored with family
Give a STAHLX backup to people you trust. They only keep 24 meaningless words — not your real 24 words. They cannot decrypt it either.
A second encrypted copy
Complement your safe seed: the real recovery seed stays in the safe, STAHLX is the encrypted everyday copy. You always have access without exposing the real seed phrase.
Emergency & inheritance
Deposit a STAHLX backup for the worst case. Only someone holding the steel and a copy of your certificate file can recover the real seed phrase. For inheritance you deposit both separately — e.g. steel with family, certificate file with a notary.
Store openly instead of hiding
Hiding only creates the illusion of security. STAHLX makes hiding unnecessary: the backup may be visible, because visibility does not lead to decryption.
